Background: Adrenal venous sampling (AVS) is the gold standard method that evaluates the source of aldosterone overproduction in primary aldosteronism. During AVS aldosterone and cortisol are simultaneously measured in order to assess successful adrenal cannulation and lateralization of aldosterone overproduction.
